Fractional CFO for RIA Principals
Embedded finance leadership for standalone and small-group firms under $1 billion in AUM. Cash, forecasts, and partner economics you can run the firm on without hiring a full-time CFO.
What I do
Cash and forecasting you can trust week to week, including lumpy fees and payout timing.
Partner and advisor economics that make margin visible by person, team, and service line.
Fee-mix forecasting when pricing is not uniform — bps, flat, hybrid, and caps.
Reporting for growth, a credit conversation, a partner admission, or a deal.
A monthly operating rhythm so principals are not also acting as CFO.
What I don’t do
Bookkeeping, AP/AR, or outsourced accounting.
If you need that layer, I will help you staff it.
My seat is the CFO seat.
Why this background
I’ve led finance inside a PE-sponsored RIA — advisor compensation, P&L by service line, and reporting to leadership, owners, and lenders. Earlier: CFO of a FINRA/SEC broker-dealer, fund accounting and valuation, investment-management tax at KPMG, and finance for a firm that included wealth and trust.
How I work
Fractional or interim. Embedded with the principals. Focused on the CFO seat. Twin Cities based.
I have already sat in RIA, broker-dealer, and professional-services finance seats, so onboarding is short. I come in as a professional, learn your specifics quickly, and start producing usable cash, economics, and reporting without a long ramp.
First 90 days
Days 1–30: Map cash, fee receipts, and payouts. Identify what leadership cannot currently see.
Days 31–60: Stand up partner and advisor economics and a forecast that handles mixed pricing.
Days 61–90: Install a monthly reporting cadence and a pack you can take to a bank, a partner, or a buyer.
